If there’s one thing that I love more than books and bookish things, it’s planning and organising. I’m a organiser from wayyyy back.. I’m pretty sure I was born one! And I’ve always been one of those people who LOVES the New Year. I just love the feeling of a new start (the same goes for new weeks/months/seasons), it gets me focused on my goals and things I want or need to do.
So you could say that the coming new year has me a little (okay, a LOT) excited. I wouldn’t say I have been wishing the year away, but I have been keen for the new year to get here. Especially with the new planner system that I’m going to be using for 2018.
The Leanne Baker Daily Planner. Or LBD for short.
I discovered this planner late last year but as it’s a daily planner and I’ve always been a weekly girl, I wasn’t sure if it was for me and thought about it for too long that I missed out getting one. So I started the year with my usual weekly diary from Kikki-K, and then a few months later I picked up a daily Kikki-K diary on sale and used the layout of the LBD. And I loved this way of planning, I was hooked and knew this planner could work for me.
So when the 2018 planners were released in October, I jumped at getting one and I’m SO happy that I did. I love it already – and I haven’t even really used it yet!
Here it is!! My planner for 2018! This cover is called Flourish and from the moment I saw it, I just knew I needed it in my life for 2018.
I love the way the daily page is set out so that your planning is very intentional. I LOVE how the ‘List of 3’ helps me set my priorities for the day, but then it has the Morning/Afternoon/Evening breakdown for to-do lists or things to focus on during the day. The hourly space is allows me to scheduling my day with appointments, meetings, events, etc. and the notes section is handy too for notes, to-dos or thoughts. I also love how the self-care section helps me focus on doing something just for me.

This planner also has a monthly overview which I was really happy with, because it’s something I really liked about my Kikki-K diaries from the last few years. It’s so helpful for planning because I can put important dates, birthdays, holidays, my shifts, pay days, etc. there for that month, and the have a good overview of what’s happening. Then the daily page can have more for the day-to-day.

There’s also a weekly menu planning page at the start of each week but I’m going to be converting it into a blog weekly planner for my blog posts, social media and other blog things I need to do in an attempt to be more present on my blog (on of my goals for the year!).
And speaking of goals… Every month starts with a goals page which is broken down into smaller categories: Self-Care, Family/Relationships, Health, Finance, Fun, Home and Other. This is one of the things I love the most (and I love SO MUCH about this planner!) as it’s another way that makes this planner so intentional. This year my yearly goals are going to be made with these smaller categories in mind, so that my monthly goals can then be set around my yearly goals so that my year’s goals are broken into smaller steps throughout the year and hopefully that way they are more achievable. I’m planning on doing a blog post about my year goals in the next few days

I am a big time listmaker and notetaker, so alongside my planner I know I’ll also have a few notebooks and journals on the go… I’m planning on using the Notes + Ideas notebook in my photo with my planner for day to day note taking. I got it from Padtastic with my planner, and I love how customisable it is! I set mine out to have a note pages on one side and a list on the other. I’ll also have a journal for my blog and to keep track of some things through the year like my TBR and 2018 reading list. And of course I have my quote notebook where I jot down quotes and words that speak to me.
In terms of memory keeping, I’m making 2018 the year that I finally jump into Project Life. I know that I’m pretty late to the party with this one, but it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time so I’ve ordered an album and some cards this week from an online shop based in Australia and this year I’m planning on being more proactive in documenting life in photos. I love that Project Life can be as simple or as detailed as you want to make it, I’m planning on going down the simple plan by doing a monthly album rather than weekly, but we’ll see how I go. For daily/weekly memory keeping, I know the planner will help me with this (and I’m planning on keeping it as a memory keeper once the year is over) I’m planning on getting the Kikki-K 365 Journal and using it alongside as a journal for keeping track of what I’m doing each day/week. And then I’ll take notes/events/etc from the journal to document with my photos in my album.
So that’s how I’ll be planning and journalling for the year! I love the feeling of a new start and all the possibilities that it can bring, and I’m just so excited for 2018 to get started. So tell me, are you a planner or journaller? What are diary/planner/journal are you going to be using this year? What are you excited for in 2018?
