So it’s been a while since my last post… but between having the flu twice within the last month and a icky work roster and blogging fell by the wayside for a little bit there. BUT I’m now officially on annual leave/holidays for a whole MONTH (woohoo!!) and I’m looking forward to being able to spend more time on the blog. Already this weekend I’ve given the blog a few tweaks here and there to pretty it up (and you might notice an updated header — what do you think?). And I’ve got lots of fun ideas for blog posts for the rest of this year that I’m excited to get into, so watch this space!
Anywayyy, today’s post is a catch-up post of sorts… I thought I’d get myself back into this blogging thing and share what I’ve been reading, watching and listening to lately, between work/night shift and quite a few sick days.
WHAT I’VE BEEN READING LATELY
Okay, so maybe this part should be called What I HAVEN’T Been Reading Lately… SIGH. I’m officially calling it: 2017 is The Year of My Book Slump. Oh man, I’m in a big book slump and it’s got me BAD. I think I’ve been so exhausted from work with an unforgiving roster (ugh night shift) and then having the FLU, has taken so much of my mental/physical energy that I just haven’t been feeling like reading. It’s been really frustrating and annoying. And I’ve only read a couple books these last few months *insert sad face*
So one of my big goals for my holidays is to read some books! I’m not going to pressure myself with a big list of books that I HAVE to read (although I am using by Spring TBR for guidance), I’m just going to see where my mood takes me and read whatever takes my fancy. And I’m off to a good start – this weekend I picked up If There’s No Tomorrow by Jennifer L. Armentrout and so far I’m struggling to PUT IT DOWN (omg it’s so heartbreaking) which after so long between books is a pretty good feeling. So we shall see if this one breaks my book slump – I so hope so!
WHAT I’VE BEEN WATCHING LATELY
So the thing about reading slumps and not being in the ‘mood’ for reading is it leaves a lot of time to watch movies/TV. And oh my gosh, have I been watching a lot of TV lately! So I randomly binge watched a new-ish show ‘The Designated Survivor’ on netflix last week. The plot sounded interesting, and I was looking for something different/new to get over my night shift hangover with and I like political dramas, so I thought I would give it a go. And then the next thing I know I watched the whole season over a weekend. Oops. But it was really good with lots of scandals and conspiracies, and I couldn’t stop watching it so I think it was just what I needed. So now I’m giving season 2 a go, and we’ll see if I keep liking it.
I also finally got caught up on last season of Arrow and The Flash. I kind of got so behind that I didn’t finish them earlier in the year and did I miss a lot of things or what! I have no idea how because I still follow the show’s social medias, but I’m actually surprised I managed to dodge a lot of spoilers. But I’m all good now that I’m up-to-date with the new seasons that started last week. And I’ve been getting back into the new seasons of Greys and Scandal that have just started. It felt like they had a long hiatus, I’m so glad these shows and characters are back in my life. But I can’t believe this is Scandal’s last season (sob!), I really hope they finish it well (and by well, I mean Olivia gets her happily-ever-after with Fitz, hehe).
And I’m LOVING Outlander season 3. HOLY SMOKES, I cannot wait for next weeks episode… I think I need to rewatch the last ep or two just to get through another whole week of waiting. It’s torturous.
